Samantha and her Venice Falcons travel soccer teammates
returned to the pitch after taking a hiatus for high school soccer. The game got
off to a slow start for the girls today, as they looked to be a step slow and a
bit out of sync. After going to halftime with a 0-0 score, things started to
pick up in the second half. The Falcons got on the scoreboard first, grabbing an
early goal and a 1-0 lead. The Fusion team had a chance to tie things up at one
apiece, but the Venice keeper came up with a big save on a penalty kick to help
keep the Falcons in front. Venice wound up with a penalty kick of their own
moments later, and Sam stepped up to take the kick. She very nonchalantly sent
the ball into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead. Before the game came to a
close, the Falcons tacked on one more goal to seal the 3-0 victory over their
neighbors down I-75 to the south, North Port. Way to re-start the season girls!
