Mere hours after the conclusion of the opening ceremony, Drew and his U12 Flint teammates were back together, this time at the Mohawk 4 Ice Centre for their first of two games this weekend. After last year's contests, blowouts wouldn't have been surprising for this weekend as well. The game ended up being much more competitive this time around, however. Though the Hamilton team jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first period, the Flint boys weren't ready to give up. They played the game tough and had plenty of chances, but the Canadians did a better job capitalizing on theirs. The second period was back and forth, with each time finding the back of the net once, ending with a 4-1 score. The final stanza was all Hamilton, as they managed to find the back of the net four times, cruising to a closer than the score indicated 8-1 win.
