After getting beaten pretty soundly in yesterday's contest, I don't think that many people in the arena thought that today's outcome would be any different - except for the coaches and players from Flint, that is. The boys came out hot this morning, putting two goals on the board before Hamilton was able to answer with their first. The Flint team scored two more before the period was over, grabbing an impressive 4-1 lead. Hamilton struck first in the second, getting a power-play goal to narrow the lead to two. Flint struck back moments later with two more goals, heading into the third with a 6-2 lead. The third period was rough for Flint, as they weren't able to catch a break from the refs. Hamilton kept on the pressure, and with the help of a bunch of penalty calls against the Flint team, kept attacking. A 5 on 3 power-play goal made the score 6-3, then another power-play made it 6-4. Yet another power-play goal with under two minutes made the score 6-5. Thankfully the Flint team was able to clamp down on defense, keeping Hamilton out of the back of the net despite being down a man when Hamilton pulled their goalie. Finally, a victory for Flint hockey on Canadian ice! Way to go boys!
