Game #9

7:15pm
John Lindell Ice Arena - Royal Oak 1st 2nd 3rd Final
'05 Lapeer Storm 1 0 1 2
Royal Oak Eagles 1 2 2 5

For the second time in a week the Lapeer Storm faced off against the Royal Oak Eagles, this time on the Eagles home ice. The initial contest resulted in a 4-1 loss for the Storm, so everyone was hoping for a different outcome today. Things got off to a rough start for the Storm when the Eagles put the goal on net on a wraparound, only to have the ref blow the play dead as though the Storm goalie had the puck covered but then changed his mind as he neared the net, awarding the Eagles a goal and giving them an early 1-0 lead. Again, the Storm didn't give up or let this get them down, as they fought back to know things up at 1-1 to end the first period. The second period didn't go the way that the Storm had hoped, as they allowed two goals while failing to find the net on their own, leaving them with a 3-1 deficit to overcome in the third. Unfortunately an early goal in the period seemed to sap some of the Storm teams energy, though they did answer with their second goal of the game less than 90 seconds later. An empty net goal with less than 5 seconds remaining wrapped up the scoring, leaving the Storm with a 5-2 defeat.
