The first thing that Jayden noticed this morning when we arrived at the field was that someone was selling pickles. Since Jay is such a pickle lover, Tara encouraged her (bribed her) with a reward of a pickle for each goal scored. Jayden played forward during the first quarter. She was able dribbled the ball up the field, make a good pass across to her teammate who was able to score the goal, earning an assist for Jay in the process. Tara jokingly said to Jay “No pickle. It wasn’t a goal.” She gave Tara the evil eye and said she needed a pickle! During the second period, Jay played defense, doing her best to help keep the ball out of the goal. Unfortunately, this quarter the opponent managed to score a goal, thus tying the game at a goal apiece. In the third quarter, Jay moved farther back on defense, settling is as the goalkeeper while doing her best to defend the net. Although her teammates managed to score two more goals, she was unable to protect the net from a goal by the opponent. With a high kick over Jay’s head, the goal was an impossible save for any AYSO player. With a 3-2 score entering the fourth, Jay was placed at forward once again. The girls worked hard to move the ball up the field, but the #2 team managed to sneak in one last goal, tying the game at 3-3. This was the way the game ended. The AYSO team #4 is presently undefeated for the season and are looking to keep rolling along. Way to go Hot Air Balloons!!! |
