Things started out well for the Flint Jr. Firebirds in their game against the Mt. Clemens Wolves. The two teams battled back and forth for the majority of the first period, as the two teams went scoreless for almost 10 minutes of action. The Wolves got on the board first, grabbing the lead with a little over 5 minutes remaining. The Firebirds answered right back, scoring a shorthanded goal at the 4 minute mark, tying the score at a goal apiece. A late tally (at the 0:21 mark) gave the Wolves the lead once again, ending the period at a 2-1 deficit for the young Firebirds.

The next two periods were all Mt. Clemens, as they were the only team to find the back of the net, scoring three goals in each period. That was all she wrote, as the Firebirds lost their final game by an 8-1 score, moving them in to the consolation game tomorrow.
