This afternoon the FireCats scrimmaged against the '06 Compuware
team at the USA Hockey Arena, home to the USA Hockey program. Both
teams came out strong, but it was the Compuware players who
celebrated the first goal, scoring with 11 minutes to go in the
period. The FireCats fought back, scoring their own goal moments
later, with Drew on the ice helping his team defend. With the
score tied 1-1 entering the second period, the game appeared to be
quite competitive. It seemed as though the FireCats spent more time
watching the puck and waiting for the play to come to them than they
did attacking the opposition. Compuware took advantage of this
tentativeness and scored once again, grabbing a 2-1 lead which they
held into the third period.
At this point it was obvious that the boys on the ice were tired,
and were frustrated that the calls on their ice weren't going their
way. Their lack of energy and motivation led to two additional
Compuware goals in the final period, closing the game with a 4-1
victory over the FireCats. |
