Game 4

Samantha took to the pitch for the first time today with her FC Sarasota teammates, as they faced off against the WHYSA Kicks team from Winter Haven. To say that Sam was tossed right into the fire is a bit of a understatement, as this was a very physical contest from the opening kick. Sam also got the start today, which she was not expecting after being a late addition to the team.

The WHYSA girls got on the board first, scoring the lone goal before the water break. Did I mention that this was a physical game? Well, that physicality would help get FC Sarasota back into it, as two penalties in the box would provide an opportunity to take the lead, as they scored on both penalty kicks. Their 2-1 lead would hold until halftime.

FCS scored the first goal of the second half, widening their lead to a 3-1 margin. WHYSA was able to narrow the margin partway through the period to 3-2, but that would be it for each team for scoring. Have I mentioned that this was a physical game? A late-game incident started with hair pulling and led to a fist being swung (but thankfully not connecting). What an introduction to Sarasota soccer!
