Samantha and her Holly Bronchos teammates hosted their nearest
rival, the Fenton Tigers, in this evening's contest. Although the
Tigers have gotten the best of the Bronchos in recent years, the
Bronchos were hoping for a better outcome tonight. The two teams
played a physical contest throughout, and that style of play really
limited quality scoring chances for either team. In fact, the Tigers
were limited to just two shots on goal, while the Bronchos were able
to outshoot them with a total of 7. Neither team was able to
convert, however, and the game went to halftime tied at zero.
After 50 minutes of scoreless play, the Tigers were able to break
through on just their third shot of the game, heading in a corner
kick to grab a 1-0 lead. Five minutes later they were granted a
penalty kick thanks to a Bronchos penalty in the box, and the Tigers
kicker made it look easy as they grabbed a 2-0 lead. That would be
it for scoring, as the Bronchos outshot the Fenton girls by a total
of 13-5, but fell by a 2-0 score. The game was closer than the
scored indicated, but the W is what would have mattered most... |
