After a long break, Samantha and her 99/00 Liverpool teammates
returned to the pitch in this afternoon's contest. Most of the game
was relatively slow paced, with the action marching up and down the
field but scoring chances being held to a minimum. It was the
Plymouth team that got on the board first and holding on to take a
1-0 lead in to halftime. Liverpool found themselves with several
good looks throughout the second half, but they couldn't convert on
any of them. The LFC girls controlled play this half, but it
appeared they would be headed for defeat. It wasn't until the last
few minutes of the game that the Liverpool girls were finally able
to change that, scoring on a play where the Reign goalie came out to
challenge a shot and the ball got behind her before being tapped in.
With little time remaining, the Liverpool girls tried to secure a
victory, but came up short before the final whistle was blown. All
though it wasn't a "W", this game could have easily been a "L" had
it not been for their hard work in the second half. |
