Day two of the Ring of Fire Tournament had the Flint Firebirds
facing off against the Atlanta Kings (yes, the Atlanta in Georgia)
in Ann Arbor. The first and second periods were extremely similar,
with the two teams trading scoring chances and penalties. Both teams
took hooking penalties in the first period, while expanding the
variety a bit in the second but with each team taking two penalties
(though the Kings would end up with a 10 minute misconduct following
their boarding penalty late in the second period).
It wasn't until the third period got underway that one of the
teams was able to get on the scoreboard. Unfortunately for us, it
was the Kings who would score, after getting a 2 on 1 breakaway that
pulled the Firebirds goaltender out of the net. That would end up
being it for the scoring, as the Firebirds would fall by a 1-0
score. |
