Due to the travel requirements for hockey in Florida, most of
the games are scheduled as double-headers. That meant that Drew and
his Jr. Everblades teammates would be playing a second game today,
this time against the Florida Jr. Panthers. After a positive start
in the previous game today, the Everblades struggled at the start
today. It was the Jr. Panthers who scored two goals in the first
period - one early, just over a minute in, and once late, with just
over four minutes remaining - to take a 2-0 lead into the first
intermission.
The start of the second period wasn't much better, as the
Everblades took an early penalty. Thankfully they were able to kill
that one off, but a turnover led to another Panthers goal, and a 3-0
deficit. The Everblades players didn't give up, as they would find
an answer 2 minutes later, scoring on a 1 on 1 opportunity. That
would be it for the scoring, as the Everblades were able to kill off
the only penalty of the game so far. The period would come to a
close with a 3-1 score and the Everblades on the wrong end of it.
The third period was all Panthers, as they would score midway
through the period on a breakaway, widening their lead to 4-1. They
would tack on an empty net goal as time expired to finalize the
scoring, winning by a 5-1 score. |
