Game 15

Drew and his Jr. Everblades teammates returned to the ice for a regular season contest this afternoon, facing off against the Golden Wolves. The game got off to a good start for the Everblades, as they jumped out to a 1-0 lead just over a minute into the game thanks to a nice wrist shot that eluded the Wolves goalie. As time wound down on the first period, it appeared that the Everblades would go into the intermission with a 1-0 lead, but the Golden Wolves had other plans. They would knock one into the net with just 0:00.3 left on the clock, knotting the game up at 1 goal apiece.

It would be the Golden Wolves who would break through first in the second period, tapping the puck in on a pass through the crease to grab their first lead of the game with just under nine minutes to play in the period. Some hard work by the Everblades would lead to the game tying goal three minutes later, as they would find the back of the net on a nice wrap-around goal that snuck under the goalies pads. Unfortunately for the Everblades, the Wolves would regain the lead a couple minutes later on a pass from behind the net, giving them a 3-2 lead that would hold until the second intermission.

Despite their good early effort, things fell apart for the Everblades in the third. The refs did their part to keep the Everblades out of it as well, calling them for four penalties in the period, and seven overall for the game (compared to none for the Golden Wolves the entire game). Playing so much of the period shorthanded took it's toll, and the Wolves were able to find the back of the net for some easy goals. They would go on to an easy 7-2 victory when the final whistle blew.
