After a nearly three and half week break, Drew and his Venice
Chargers teammates returned to the basketball court, this time to
take on the boys from Sarasota Middle School. Although the game
got off to a pretty decent start for our boys in green, they could
never quite get over the hill to grab the lead. Drew played the
final 50 seconds of the quarter, and helped his team narrow the gap
from a 6 point deficit to 4 as the quarter came to an end.
Sarasota went on a run to start the second quarter, and when Drew
subbed out it was 23-14, with the only two Venice points during that
time coming off of his layup in a crowd. He came back in later,
playing the last two minutes of the half, but the Chargers would
find themselves down 10 when it was over.
The final two quarters were similar to the first two, with
Sarasota controlling the boards and the paint area. Drew got another
two minutes in the third quarter, but didn't pick up any notable
stats aside from picking up a foul. When the final buzzer sounded,
it was Sarasota on top by a score of 61-44. |
