Today was family trip day to Walt Disney World, as Tara, Drew,
Jay, and I were joined by Grandpa Gary, Grandma Terry, Uncle Steve,
and Aunt Erica as we opted to tour Animal Kingdom. When we
arrived, we decided to check on the wait for the Kilimanjaro
Safaris, but determined that it was going to be too long.
Grandpa Gary & Grandma Terry took Steve to go check him in for the
Disability Access Service (DAS) while the rest of us decided to go
check out the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail. We barely got
started when we found out that the entire party had to be there for
the check-in process, so we headed off to join the others.
At this point the kids were getting hungry, so we opted to grab a
seat near the Tusker House Restaurant and enjoy the meal that we
packed. Thankfully we were close to our next attraction, the
Festival of the Lion King, which we had a FastPass+ for.
Although it had been years since either Tara or I had seen the show
and I don't particularly remember it, I enjoyed the show today.
Once we finished seeing the Lion King we wandered over to Pandora
to take in the sights of Avatar Flight of Passage. This was
only the second time that most of us have managed to enjoy this
ride, and it is certainly enjoyable. I'm not sure it's worth waiting
three hours for (like some of the wait times I've seen for it), but
still a great ride.
Our next FastPass+ was for Expedition Everest - Legend of the
Forbidden Mountain, so we trekked across the park to Asia to go
on this ride (well, expect for Grandpa Gary, Grandma Terry, and Aunt
Erica).
We were able to secure one last ride using Steve's DAS before the
night was over, and that was for the Na'vi River Journey.
This was our first time for most of us (Erica was the only one with
us who had ridden it previously), and although it is a neat ride to
look at, I would not wait in line for this one for very long.
We had one last FastPass+ for the night, and that was for the
Rivers of Light show. Despite not getting in many rides, we
decided that it had been a long enough day and that we would skip
this one for today. I released our passes and we headed out of the
park to head home for the day. Until next time! |
