After missing last weeks game due to my positive COVID test,
Jayden was able to return to the pitch for today's match up with the
West Florida Flames Jazz team. Jay was one of the captains for
today's game, and she got the start on defense. The game itself
didn't look good for the Hawks on the scoresheet, as the Flames
dominated in shots on goal. They certainly held the ball for almost
all of the time leading up to the first half water break. They would
score on their third shot of the game, just before that water break,
to take the early 1-0 lead. The Hawks would spend quite a bit of
time in the Flames end of the field when play resumed, but they just
weren't able to break through with an answering goal of their own.
The field seemed to tilt back to the Flames end before halftime
arrived, but thankfully they weren't able to widen their lead,
leaving the score at 1-0 when the halftime whistle blew.
The second half was similar to the first, though neither team had
many shots on goal. Jay didn't start this half, but she subbed in
early back on the defensive end. After the water break Jay was moved
up to offense, and she acquitted herself quite well. She would need
a lot of work on her footwork skills to stick at this end of the
field, but she made some nice moves to sneak between defenders and
get some scoring opportunities. Unfortunately her best shot just
missed the net. Her team could have used the goal, as they were
unable to score the goal that they would need to tie things up. |
