Home Up

Wednesday, December 27th, 2023

This afternoon we made the drive over to Largo to visit the Florida Botanical Gardens. Although most of the plants weren't in bloom at this time of year, it definitely sparked an interest in coming back again in the summertime. As always, enjoy our photos!

Danger: Do not feed or molest the alligators!

Drew, Jayden, and Tyler making sure the door is unopenable...

...as Rose and Tara try to exit the restrooms.

Tyler and Rose taking a very serious picture...

...before taking one with a more traditional pose.

An egret exploring a swampy area of the gardens...

...along with this moorhen...

...and this great blue heron.

Drew playing a xylophone in the interactive part of the gardens...

...as Tara found a different style.

There was an area to make your own stick figures, so Rodney built this fellow...

...and Drew made sure he was wearing protection!

Tara crossing a bamboo bridge...

...while Rose followed behind.

Rose, Tara, Drew, and Tyler playing in the "Musical Forest".

Jayden taking a turn on the bamboo bridge...

...before joining the others in the "Musical Forest".

Drew and Jay banging on the musical drum seats.

We got to see several little alligators in one of the ponds on the property...

This anhinga was near the alligators as well.

Jayden and Drew posing for a picture in a giant Adirondack chair...

...before it devolved into saluting each other...

...and then trying to get a semi-decent photo together (even though they were subtly giving the Peters Family Salute anyway).

Rose and Tyler in the giant chair (and a salute from Tyler as well)...

...before getting a nice photo together.

A shot of Rose and Tyler together off of the chair.

Tara & Rodney taking a few pictures together on the chair...

...and trying to gross out the kids with a kiss.

Although I can't remember what kind of palm tree this was...

...the trunk had been braided by guests visiting the gardens.

This plant was known as Giraffes Knees for obvious reasons...

...while this one is called an Elephant's Foot, again, for obvious reasons.

It was in this pond with the fountain that we spotted...

...the elusive Slurpee cup in the wild!

Some artwork at the attached Gallery at Creative Pinellas...

Jayden posing with this - uh - interesting Elvis sculpture.
