Manatee Viewing Center

Home Up

Saturday, December 30th, 2023

We (Rodney, Tara, Tyler, Rose, and Jayden - Drew tried to join us, but he had to work and didn't have time to actually go in with us) decided to visit the TECO Manatee Viewing Center in Apollo Beach this morning, as the weather was cool leading to the hope that there would be plenty of manatees to see. We were definitely right - we got to see a lot of them today. I am looking forward to going back again soon. Enjoy!

As there are a lot of similar pictures, I will refrain from capturing each of them!

We also saw several large Atlantic tarpon in the water...

A look at the viewing tower at the Apollo Beach Preserve in the distance.

The blue heron in the waters near the wall...

...before flying up and landing on it.

Is this possibly a shark swimming in the waters?

A pelican flying over the wall...

A few shots of Rose and Tyler while at the Manatee Viewing Center...

A tricolored heron spotted in the woods...

Some of the cownose rays at the Rays Touch Tank...

Tara wasn't too impressed with how the rays felt to the touch, however...

A ray swimming by in the tank.

Tara prepared to touch another ray.

We decided to hike the trail out to the observation tower...

...to take in the views...

...including the TECO Big Bend Station...

...and the giant "HELLO" in the ground below...

...as well as these other views...
