Jayden took part in her first Powderpuff game tonight, as the
Riverview High School Seniors took on the Juniors. The Seniors got
off to a quick start, as they ran two reverse plays and marched down
the field for a quick 7-0 lead. The Juniors then took possession,
and after an initial incomplete pass their second pass was
intercepted and returned for another Senior touchdown, making it a
14-0 score after just four plays in total between the two teams. The
Senior defense held on the next Junior possession, stopping them on
downs and taking possession of the ball. Jayden got the carry on the
next Senior play, and took off for a nice 15 yard gain down the
sideline. The opening quarter would come to a close following a
couple of more plays, including a nice 15 yard pass, as the Seniors
held on to their 14-0 lead thanks to some strong defense.
The Seniors continued their drive to open the second quarter, and
had a nice 20 yard run for a touchdown on their first play, making
the score 21-0. The Juniors took over on offense, and had a
successful run on their first down play, picking up nine yards.
Their third down play resulted in a first down, thanks to a pass
that they collected for a gain of 8 yards. After an incomplete pass,
the Senior defense stepped up once again, picking up the next Junior
pass attempt. The ensuing Senior drive started with three positive
running plays, including a four yard gain for Jay on the middle
running play. Unfortunately for them, the half would come to a close
before they could find the end zone. The score at half was 21-0 in
favor of the Seniors.
The second half opened with the Juniors in possession of the
football, and they were unable to secure a first down on their
drive, turning the ball over on downs after a penalty was followed
up by a loss on a run and incomplete passes. The Seniors then had a
couple of big runs before tossing an incomplete pass. They had a
chance to secure a first down, but a collision between to Senior
Sharks resulted in them knocking their own flags off, resulting in a
turnover on downs. Not a great way to end a drive! That would also
be the final play of the third quarter, with the score still 21-0
with the Seniors leading the Juniors.
The Seniors started out the final quarter on defense, and after a
run gained zero yards, the Juniors picked up 10 yards on a nice pass
on their next play. They attempted another pass on their third down
play, but Jay successfully managed to knock the pass down, setting
up fourth down. The Juniors attempted to pass for the first down,
but that too fell incomplete. The Seniors took over on offense, and
after Jay took a loss on her first rush attempt of the drive they
made a big gain on a second down pass. They then had a zero yard
rushing play and an incomplete pass before Jay attempted another
run, but this time the quarterback barely got the ball near Jay's
hands, resulted in the ball hitting the ground, ending the play. The
Juniors then took over possession of the ball, but on their last
grasp attempt the pass fell incomplete, and the game came to a
close.
Congratulations to the Senior girls for going out on top, with a
21-0 victory! Way to go Seniors! |
