Home Up

Tuesday, December 10th, 2024

We woke up this morning and worked on getting ourselves ready while also packing up. We had to check out of the hotel this morning as well, and we made it with time to spare. We vacated our room, loaded up the car, and officially checked out. I snagged this picture of Bo-Peep and Woody in the parking lot before we headed off to the Transportation and Ticket Center .

After arriving at the Transportation and Ticket Center we hopped on the resort monorail with the intent of stopping at Disney's Grand Floridian resort. Our intent was to check out the gingerbread house that was on display in the lobby. After arriving at the resort, we headed inside and downstairs to see the giant house for ourselves. It was definitely impressive, with an actual bake shop housed inside of it as well. Once we had seen enough of the house and the giant Christmas tree in the lobby, we headed back to the monorail for our short trip to Disney's Magic Kingdom.

Here are a few looks at the gingerbread house in Disney's Grand Floridian...

...including these little trees that represent various Disney characters, such as Cinderella, Snow White, and Rapunzel...

...the peak was also decorated with little Mickey and Minnie Mouses.

A few stats about what went into making the giant gingerbread house.

We finally made it to Disney's Magic Kingdom, and Grandma Terry and I hit up some of the shops along Main Street, U.S.A. while Aunt Erica headed to Starbucks for coffee. After she finally got her beverage, we found a table near the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor and ordered lunch from Casey's Corner.

After eating, we headed off to Liberty Square to visit the Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe to look for ornaments for Grandma Terry.

We attempted to go see the Country Bear Musical Jamboree in Frontierland, but they were apparently experiencing some technical difficulties, so we were unable to go inside for the show. With that show off the table, we instead headed through Adventureland, briefly discussing going on the Pirates of the Caribbean, but instead decided to go wait in line for the Jingle Cruise, the holiday overlay for the Jungle Cruise ride. Unfortunately Grandma Terry's stomach issues flared up, and she exited the queue. Although she was the primary reason we were trying to go on this ride, Aunt Erica and I stuck it out and enjoyed the ride.

Because I needed to be home in enough time to make it to Jayden's soccer game tonight, we decided that we would head out. We made a quick pit stop at the Spring Roll Snack Cart so that I could get my pizza spring rolls, even though I was too full to eat them! (I ended up taking them home and Jay and I shared after her game.) We also stopped at the popcorn stand at the front of the park so that Grandma Terry could get one of the Mickey Mouse Elf Christmas popcorn bucket for herself and Aunt Erica.

We took the boat back to the Transportation and Ticket Center before climbing back into the car to make the drive back home.

Disney's Magic Kingdom

Although I have been in the park what seems like a million times now, I don't think I ever noticed the statue of Roy O. Disney sitting with Minnie Mouse on a park bench near City Hall at the front of the park.

A closer look at the statue.

We spotted this Christmas "tree" in the queue for the Jingle Cruise boat ride.

Since the ride was renamed to Jingle Cruise from Jungle Cruise, it was only fitting that the 'Jingle All The Way' saying was changed over to 'Jungle All The Way'!

Because we typically avoid the actual queue due to having Uncle Steven's wheelchair, I never noticed this sign prohibiting the boat captains from taking their boats over the Schweitzer Falls!

This 'snowman' thing was on the boat dock before we boarded our vessel for our ride.

As we were leaving the boat, we noticed this Mickey Mouse on top of one of the garbage cans!
