Another Labor Day weekend, another trip to the St. Ignace/Mackinac Island KOA so that we can participate in the annual Labor Day Bridge Walk. We experienced very nice weather this year, with the exception of a short rainfall one evening. For more information about our trip, read the Diary here.

Assorted Driving Pictures - August 31st

Our view approaching the toll booth after crossing the Mackinac Bridge. Workers on top of the toll booth - we assumed they had something to do with preparing for the walk on Monday.
I just liked this picture of the American flag flying proudly in St. Ignace.

After arriving, we spent some time at the campground to unwind from our drive, as well as to prepare dinner.

Tyler and Sam on Mom's computer playing games. Drew, Gary, Jayden, and Tara outside enjoying the day.
A couple more pictures of Drew, Gary, Jayden, and Tara outside. You can see what our site looked like in these pictures.

After dinner we drove over to the Straits State Park to visit with my Uncle Dick & Aunt Lois and their friends for a while. Since the kids got a little bored, I took them for a walk in the woods. We also went to the scenic lookout in the park so that I could take some pictures.

The Might Mac from the scenic lookout. The Mackinac Bridge from the shore.
Another view of the bridge from the shore.

After lunch on Saturday we drove into town to check out the craft show. We also took the time to walk along the docks at the marina, and of course we had to visit the shops in downtown for goodies.

This cool rock is near the parking lot that we used. A plaque on the Fisherman's Memorial.
A list of the men who have died commercial fishing. The top of the memorial.
A sign describing the history of the State Ferry system. Samantha waiting while Tyler stands with an anchor.
Sam taking her turn with the anchor. I spotted this dog on a boat at the marina.
Tyler standing by a giant rudder near the dock. Sam standing in front of the rudder as well.
The signs were on the lampposts all over town.
