Home Up

This set of pictures picks up as we approach Surrey Hill, where we were able to wander through some of their shops and see the Butterfly House (we didn't go inside). After transferring to a larger carriage, we resumed our tour. We passed the St. Anne's and the Post cemeteries, and Skull Cave before we made a brief stop at Arch Rock before resuming our tour...

Mackinac Island Carriage Tour

Drew, Samantha, and Tyler on the carriage.

Tara and Drew on the carriage.

An old sled located inside Surrey Hill.

The island's hearse, which is still used today.

A look in the woods of the Mackinac Island State Park.

The entrance to St. Anne's Cemetery.

The Post Cemetery...

...where the flag always fly at half staff.

Tyler, Tara, Drew, and Jayden on the carriage, with Grandma Terry, Samantha, and Grandpa Gary in the row ahead of them.

The other entrance to St. Anne's Cemetery. Their is also a path to the left of the gate to allow the hearse in, as the gate isn't tall enough to allow the hearse in with the driver atop it.

A look at Skull Cave.

The hill the soldiers used for rifle practice in the days of the fort.

Grandma Terry, Samantha, and Grandpa Gary on the carriage.

A look down one of the roads on the island.

Near Arch Rock is the Nicolet Watch Tower, which provides a prime vantage point from high above.

The view from Nicolet Watch Tower, which was severely limited by the fog in the area today.

A look through Arch Rock.

People playing on the beach below Arch Rock.

Some weird growth on a tree near Arch Rock.

A look into the woods as our tour resumed.

A few downed trees in the woods.

We got off the carriage right near the governor's mansion.
