We only had four obstacles remaining to complete our race.
Up first was one called Storming Normandy. It was basically an army-crawl under
a series of barb wires. Aside from a couple of snags on the t-shirts, nothing
here was too complicated.
The next three obstacles were all repeats from last year,
starting with the Cargo Climb. This was the A-frame cargo net setup that we each
ascended before climbing back down the back side.
The twelfth obstacle was the Warrior Roast, which
consisted of two rows of burning logs that we had to jump over. Tyler, based on
his experience burning his arm a couple of years ago, was a little hesitant to
do this one. Once he saw Tara do it he decided that he could do it as well, and
all three of us made our way through it without any issue.
The final obstacle was Muddy Mayhem. This was the mud pit
that you have to make your way through while ducking under more barbed wire.
Last year people were jumping into the mud pit doing all kind of crazy things,
leading to one Warrior ended up paralyzed. This year the barbed wire started
right at the entrance to the pit, so there was no jumping allowed. Probably a
smart idea... We managed to make it through here easily enough. Aside from a
couple of wires that practically forced your head into the mud (which Tara & I
decided to lift up and not shove our faces into the pit), there was nothing too
difficult here.
Well, that's it. The three of us completed the 2012
Warrior Dash! Congratulations Tara and Tyler! I'm proud of you!

The tenth obstacle was called Storming Normandy, and it is the
only one without any additional pictures. This one basically
required you to do a military-style crawl underneath a series of
barb wires.

|
Obstacle 11 was the Cargo Climb, the first of the three repeat
obstacles that end the race. It was a cargo net that you had to
climb up and over.

Obstacle 12 was the Warrior Roast. This was two rows of burning
logs that you have to jump over.

Here is Tara making the leap over the first row of burning logs.
Based on his arm burn from a couple of years ago, Tyler was a little
hesitant to try this. After watching his mom do it he decided that
he could manage it too.

The final event of the day is Muddy Mayhem, the mud pit that
requires you to duck under more barbed wire. Most of the wire was so
close to the mud that you almost had to stick your face in it to
clear. Rodney & Tara opted to lift up the wire as they made it
through instead.

After our race was complete we headed to the shower to
attempt to clean ourselves off a bit. We then headed to the van to change into
some dry clothes. We returned to the spectator area to donate our running shoes
and clothes before hanging out for a while. Tyler wanted a turkey leg, and Tara
& I decided it was OK to reward him with one since he had completed his first
Warrior Dash. He ate most of it, so no complaints about that. Before long we
decided that it was time to head home to shower and get some of the stink off of
us!

Our time got worse than last year by about 10 minutes,
most of which I'm sure was tied up waiting to get through the Capsized
Catamaran. I really debated running with the group without my timing tag, and
then running again later with it just so I could get a real idea of what my time
would be. I decided not to do that, but my competitive juices really made me
regret that decision as we made our way through the course...
