July 4th, 2013

After spending the morning watching the Freedom Festival Parade, and the afternoon swimming, it was time to spend the evening watching the Freedom Festival Fireworks. We arrived around 7:00pm to find our usual viewing spot nearly overrun with people. Thankfully we were able to carve out a spot between some other people (who probably weren't too happy about our arrival, but who cares!) so that we could set up our tent and enjoy the show. We brought some of the food that was left from this afternoon's meal to snack on tonight as we waited for darkness to fall. The kids played catch, tag, and other games in the parking lot (in addition to inline skating, which abruptly ended when Drew fell and began screaming at the top of his lungs - and many other people's lungs too) to pass the time, while the adults spent the time talking to each other and supervising the massive brood of children. In addition to everyone at the swimming pool earlier today, we were joined by Tara parents as well as her sister and her family. All in all it was a great way to end a busy, but very fun, day!

Fenton Freedom Festival Fireworks

A small rainbow was visible in the sky while waiting for dusk to arrive.

Here are the kids playing games in the roadway connecting two parking lots for the now closed bank that we sat in front of.

Another shot of the kids playing games.

One more picture of the kids.

As darkness neared, a few of these lanterns managed to find their way into the sky around us.

Finally, the fireworks began...
