Today's game marked the end of the Michigan Impact U14
White soccer season. Things were looking kind of iffy early on in this contest,
as once again the girls got off to a slow start in a late day game. Thankfully
the girls seemed to find themselves a bit as the game went on, and they wound up
cruising to a 4-1 victory when the final whistle blew. Samantha played a pretty
good game overall today, making some moves around some girls, battling for the
ball in tight spaces, and taking her shots when the opportunities were there.
Once again she sent a high kick towards the net, and it appeared for a second
that the goalkeeper was going to bobble the ball and let it into the net, but
unfortunately for Sam she found her grip on the ball and made the nice save.
Today's victory moved the girls to 8-2 on the season, good
for second place in their group (and just 3 points out of first place - one
victory!). This is quite an improvement before the team's 3-5 record before
Sam's arrival (as well as a couple of other girls... it isn't all just her!).
