Earlier in the day Samantha's sister played a soccer game
in freezing wind and rain. While the sun came out and things dried up in time
for Sam's game later on, it was still cold. Winter coat cold for those not
playing in the game! Thankfully Sam and her Michigan Impact teammates came out
on fire, scoring three first half goals, one of which Sam got the assist on, and
all of which she was on the field for. She moved into goal to start the second
half, and allowed a goal - after getting her hands on the ball while diving to
deflect the ball away, but an opposing player was in the right spot at the right
time and managed to find the back of the net with the ball. Sam didn't allow a
goal for the rest of her time in net before moving back to her usual midfield
position, but not before her team tacked on another three goals. The game ended
on a penalty kick for Saginaw, which they managed to convert for a 6-2 final
score, moving the Impact team to 2-0 on the season.
