Things were looking bleak for the Reds tonight, as they
definitely didn't bring their "A" game with them. Although the Reds wound up
scoring a run in the first, it was countered by the Yankees in the second
inning. Another run by the Reds made it 2-1, but the Yankees exploded for 4 runs
in the bottom of the third to take a 5-2 lead. Based on how the game had gone so
far, it looked like the Yankees were going to cruise to victory. Thankfully the
Reds decided that they had enough of the errors that had plagued them so far,
and their bats came to life as well. Three runs in the fourth and two more in
the fifth, all while holding the Yankees to zero the rest of the game was enough
to seal a 7-5 come from behind victory. Samantha got to the plate twice today,
going 0-1 with a walk and a strikeout. She spent one inning playing centerfield
before resuming her usual spot at second base for the next 4 innings.
