August 8th, 2015 This morning's contest between the Hamilton team and the Flint team marked the end of the on-ice portion of the CANUSA Games for these two teams. Ultimately this weekend wasn't about the outcomes of the games (good thing for the USA hockey teams) but instead was about camaraderie and friendships. This was evident as the two teams gathered together on the ice before the game for pictures. They didn't opt to group together by team, but rather the kids tended to pose near their billets for the weekend. Drew knelt next to his billet Drew, even though he was the tallest kid on the ice. The two seemed to connect, and they wanted to be near each other in the pictures. It was great to see, for all involved. There was indeed a game to be played though, and like the first game this one was all Canada. The first period ended with Canada on top by a 4-0 score, as they showed restraint and worked on passing numerous times before taking a shot on goal. The second period got out of hand, as a couple of kids from the Hamilton team couldn't resist shooting (and they were the better kids on the team, as designated by their varying helmet colors). The second period ended with Canada up by 10. The American kids finally (!) broke through in the third, scoring a goal to break the 5 period drought. Unfortunately the single goal was it, while the Canadian kids added on a few more. When the final whistle blew, the score was a 13-1 loss for the Flint CANUSA team.
