Consolation Game

Drew and his Flint Jr. Firebirds teammates found themselves in the consolation game of the Ring of Fire Tournament, in a rematch against the Great Flint Hockey Association Ice Raiders. The outcome of the first matchup was really never in doubt, and despite the slow first period this one really wasn't either.

As I said, the first period was slow, as the lone goal came just under the 5 minute mark off of a Firebirds stick. The action heated up in the second period, as the Firebirds widened their lead drastically. They would go on to score six goals in the period, taking what was a 1-0 game and making it a 7-0 contest.

The third period followed the same pattern, as they would score three fast goals within two minutes, with Drew responsible for the third of those goals on a wrist shot. The final goal of the game came just under the 6 minute mark, giving the Firebirds an 11 goal margin.

The 11-0 victory gave the Flint Jr. Firebirds 3rd place in the tournament. Not bad for a team that had played a total of two games together prior to the tournament getting underway.
