Home Up

We headed to obstacle six next, which was Road Rage. This was one that we had done before, in last year's race. It consisted of three rows of junk cars which we had to climb over. In between the rows of cars were tires laid on their side. We had to do our best to race through these.

Up next was the Great Warrior Wall. This was a wall that you had to climb up using a rope and then climb back down using a ladder-lick structure. Tara opted to skip this one, only because she thought that this was the obstacle I broke my figure last year. Turns out we didn't have to face that one this year, thank goodness.

Mortimer's Crossing was the eighth obstacle that we faced in this race. It was basically a rope bridge, suspended a foot or two off the ground at most. This wasn't overly difficult, and certainly not too scary considering how close to the ground it was. We managed to zip through this one pretty quickly.

On our way to obstacle number nine we had to go through the muddy mucky area that we encountered last year. It wasn't nearly as bad as it was last year, though, as the mud wasn't quite as deep. Tara & I managed to bypass a majority of the mud, opting instead to scramble across a log spanning the mud. Tyler decided to head straight through, however, so he was covered with muck up to his waist. We finally made it to the next obstacle, called The Trenches. This was simply a sandy trench covered with widely spaced planks. Aside from having to crawl on our hands and knees, there was nothing to this one.

The 2012 Warrior Dash

The sixth obstacle of the course was Road Rage, another repeat. This one required you to scramble up and over cars while making it through rows of tires in between the cars.

Here is Tyler climbing up onto his first car of the day.

Tara approached the cars a little more gingerly than Tyler.

Obstacle seven was another repeat - the Great Warrior Wall. This one required you to use a rope to pull yourself up and over a wall and then climb down a ladder-like setup on the back of the wall.

Here is a look at Tyler approaching the wall.

Mortimer's Crossing was another new obstacle for us this year. It was a simple rope bridge, not suspended nearly as high as it looks in the picture to the left...

Here is Tyler stepping out onto the bridge.

Tara making her way across the bridge.

Another look of Tara on the bridge.

After crossing over the bridge, we encountered this sign on our way to the next obstacle...

...as well as this sign...

...and this one.

We also had to traverse through the mucky mud that we encountered last year. Here is Tyler wading right on through. Rodney & Tara opted to walk across the log to Tyler's left.

Here is Tyler emerging from the muck.

Tyler showing off his muddy legs and shorts (and hands, and...).

Yet another sign spotted on our way to the next obstacle.

Tyler decided to use some of the mud on his clothes to make some Warrior marks on his cheeks.

After a little bit of a walk, we made it to the 9th obstacle. This was was called The Trenches. It required you to crawl through a sandy pit with boards covering it. Nothing too complicated here...

Rod making his way out of the trench.

Tara wasn't too interested in having her picture taken as she emerged from the trench.
